Dennis Ray Smith

Dennis Smith, 77, of Rock Hill and formally of New Freedom, PA entered into God's eternal care on January 5, 2018. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Baublitz) Smith. The couple celebrated 49 years of marriage on November 23,2017. Born November 18, 1940 in Railroad, PA, Dennis was the son of the late Herbert E. and Martha (Ferree) Smith. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Dennis worked and retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in York and Helena Chemical Company in Shrewsbury. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Dennis was also a member of Hopewell Fish and Game, Seven Mountains Bluegrass Association, VFW Post #7012 New Freedom, and the UAW #786 in York. Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, coaching little league baseball, and playing cards with the guys. He also enjoyed NASCAR, an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens and the Orioles. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, a daughter Sherrie Rouse and husband, Joe of Rock Hill, SC, a son, Eugene Smith of York; three grandchildren, Sydney, Noah, and Montana; a brother, Melvin Smith of York, and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gerry Smith. Following cremation, burial will be held at a later date that is convenient for the family in New Freedom Cemetery.
