Diane Samantha Stone

Diane Samantha Stone also known as Sammaw to those that loved her the most, Passed away peacefully on Monday June 19th surrounded by loved ones. Sam was born in Long Beach, California February 4th, 1950 to the late Douglas Dickerson McCoy and Doris Ann Liby McCoy. She was also preceded in death by her late husband Michael Dudley Matthews( 1997)

Sam was survived by her Brother Douglas Drummond McCoy of Everette Washington. Daughters, Amanda McCoy Matthews-Pegg and husband Chris of Indian Trail NC, Sarah Christine Floyd and husband Michael of Myrtle Beach Sc, and Erin Morgan Blackwood of Fremont CA. Granddaughters Hailey Parker and Boyfriend Hugo , Emma Pegg and Katelyn Walsh. Grandsons Ethan Pegg and Joesph Walsh. As well as many close friends and family.

Samantha spent many years as a bus driver for the Ventura Unified School district which brought her so much joy. Later She and Mike relocated with their children to Charlotte NC in 1992. Sam was a creative, free spirit, artistic soul who loved her family immensely. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, sunsets, lighthouse and the beach but more than anything spending time with her grandchildren. ( and those that she claimed as grandchildren throughout the years).
