Donald L. Brown, Sr.

Donald L. Brown, Sr. , 83, of Rock Hill, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 on his 53rd wedding anniversary at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 21, 1935 in Rock Hill, SC, son of the late Richard Brown and Mary Ann Ayers Brown Gibson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by beloved wife, Omie Joann Shurley Brown; brother, Otis Roddey Brown; sisters, Nettie Brown Kimbrell Funderburk and Alice Grace Brown Willis.

He is survived by his sons, Donald Richard “Rick” Brown and wife, Tammy of Surfside Beach, William Clifford “Billy” Brown of Spartanburg, Michael “Wayne” Brown of Gaffney, Donald Gregory “Greg” Collins and wife, Carrie of Fort Lawn, Donald Lester “Donnie” Brown, Jr. and wife, Sissy of Rock Hill and Joel Lee “Joey” Brown and fiancé, Terri of Rock Hill; daughters, Teresa Brown Cartwright of OH, Cynthia Brown “Cindy” Boone and fiancé, Wayne of Rock Hill and Donna Jo Brown Bruce and husband, Jason of Rock Hill; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Hazel Edward Brown of Rock Hill and Lewis Herman Brown and wife, Hilda of Chester; sister, Sue Brown Gunderson and husband, Jerry of Rock Hill; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday, November 9, 2018 at Whitesell Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Catawba Indian Nation Longhouse on the Reservation, 996 Avenue of the Nations, Rock Hill, SC 29730. He will be laid to rest beside his loving wife at The Church of Latter-Day Saints, Catawba Ward Cemetery.
