Donald "Don" Helms

Mr. Donald "Don" Gene Helms, 71, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015. He was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on January 12, 1944, to the late Carl Junior Helms and Johnnie Louise Harkey. Don and his wife, Sara, owned and operated Big H Steel Erectors, Inc. for over 25 years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sara M. Helms; brothers, Charles Helms and James Helms, and sister, Betty Eller all of Fort Mill. Mr. Helms is survived by his daughters, Sabrina H. Gast (John); their children Joshua and Jordan all of Fort Mill; daughter Stacey H. Anderson (Brandon); and their daughters, Mattie and Ava all of Fort Mill; sister-in-law, Trish Hord (David) of Fort Mill and their children Adrienne H. Rainey (Nick) of Charleston and Lindsay Hord of Fort Mill. He is also survived by sisters, Frances Taylor and Peggy Helms of Myrtle Beach; brothers, Billy Helms of Rock Hill, and Tim Helms (Cathy) of Surfside Beach; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive family and friends on Monday, July 27 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Palmetto Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 28 at Palmetto Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Philadelphia United Methodist Church cemetery in Fort Mill.
