Donna Jean Voss

Donna J. Voss passed away at Rock Hill Hospice & Community Care on Thursday, March 23rd from a thankful short bout with cancer. Donna was born to Morse Dusenbery and Winifred Gibbons in Medina, NY in 1941. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Barry, daughter Amy (LaPointe) of Marysville OH and son Andrew of Rock Hill, SC. Beloved Grandma of Peter and Sarah LaPointe and sister to Dolores (Parker) of Medina, NY. Predeceased by brother Wendel.

Donna was a friend of many stretching from Northwestern Ontario, to Toronto, Niagara, Maritime Canada, Brewer Maine, Syracuse NY and finally in Fort Mill and Rock Hill, SC. Early on as an elementary school teacher she developed a love for books, reading and libraries and while raising her family had positions in school and public libraries. In retirement in South Carolina she was active in New Southern Women's groups, Red Hats, United Methodist Women. She loved volunteering with The Friends of the York County Library which, by having used book sales, raises library funds for children's functions, computers, furnishings and floral urns at library entrances that she nurtured with loving care. She cared for her home flowers in the same way. She also volunteered in the PAWsabilities Thrift Shop of the York County Humane Society that raises funds for the support of the county animal shelter.

A favorite pastime was helping to organize various events to celebrate and raise funds for New Southern Women, Library Friends, United Methodist Women and The Humane Society. She loved travelling, particularly to ocean venues, enjoying the local life, food, and historical sites.

During her illness she and her family were grateful for the care and concern of friends, neighbors, church members, medical personnel at Piedmont and Shiland and the Rock Hill Hospice & Community Care. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. John's United Methodist Church, Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, SC on Monday, April 3rd, at 2PM.

If desired memorials can be made to York County Library Friends, Rock Hill, York County Humane Society or St. John's United Methodist Church.
