Fort Mill, SC - Dorcas (Dot) Elizabeth Faile Chapman, 91, Fort Mill, SC passed peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Atrium Health in Pineville, North Carolina.
She was born on March 25, 1932, in York, SC to the late Joseph (Joe) Sephur Faile and Rebecca (Beckie) Parker Faile. After graduating Fort Milll High School in 1951, Dorcas worked at Singer Sewing Corporation in Charlotte, NC. She married the love of her life, Jimmie Roger Chapman on June 30, 1951, and was married for 64 years before Jimmie passed away in 2015. Dorcas retired from the Celanese Corporation after working in the Rock Hill, SC office for many years. Dorcas is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Sephur Faile and Rebecca Parker Faile and her husband Jimmie Roger Chapman. She is survived by her daughter Gemetta Chapman Stanford (Grier), and her three sons Jimmie Keith Chapman, Jerry Roger Chapman (Shana), and Joseph (Joey) William Chapman (Penny); eight grandchildren Jessica Chapman Mixon (Mike), Keith Chapman, Brandon Stanford (Willow), Kari Chapman Roberts (James), Will Chapman (Kaitlyn), Taylor Chapman Rivers (Trey), C.J. Chapman, Kennedy Chapman, and eight great -grandchildren (Eric Douglas, Tara Beth, Peter Michael, Alijah Jayden, Allieana June, Weston James, Jasmine Elizabeth, and Jaxson Eugene). She is survived by her youngest sibling sister, Rebecca Jean Cardillo, out of nine other deceased siblings (Stephen, Joseph Jr., Julia, Fay, Johnnie, Atmer, Gwynne, Eunice, and Betty).
Dorcas was a long time, supportive, and devout member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. Most important to her was family. She will forever be remembered as the best Daughter, Sister, Cousin, Wife, Mother, MawMaw and Friend ever. She enjoyed family visits, working in her flower and vegetable gardens, cooking for her family and serving others. Her love for her family and others were evident in her words and actions as was her love for God.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Flint Hill Baptist Church. The Chapman family looks forward to greeting friends before the service starts at 1:00 pm. After the service, everyone who can participate for a short walk out to the Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery for a graveside committal, is welcomed.
