Doris Barfield Baker

October 4, 1940 — February 14, 2011

Doris Barfield Baker, 70, passed away Monday, February 14, 2011 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Doris was born in Kershaw County to the late Carl, Sr. and Maggie Mackey Barfield. She was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Rock Hill High School. She was employed for years at the former Rice Transfer & Storage Co. She was preceded in death by her brother John R. "Buck" Barfield. Surviving are her husband David Alton "DA" Baker; a sister Dorothy B. Rogers; a brother Carl Barfield, Jr. and wife Martha all of Rock Hill, SC. She was a second Mother to her niece Deborah R. Waldrop and husband Greg also of Rock Hill. Other nieces are Pam B. Hay of Gastonia, NC and Christine B. Gray of Salem, VA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 2:00 pm at Hopewell Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mickey Bolus officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or Hopewell Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 1571 S Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730 The family would like to thank the staff of the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House for the care of his precious wife through the last days of her journey home.
