Doris Dean Carruth, age 95, died December 4, 2015. Born June 2, 1920 in Bowersville, Ga., she was the oldest child of the late George Talmadge and Lucy Brown Dean. Mrs. Carruth was very active in her church and community. She enjoyed her friends and was devoted to her family. She had a great zest for life. Survivors include her son Herbert Clay Carruth, Jr. and his wife Anne, and their three sons, whom she adored: Herbert Clay Carruth, III, George West Carruth, and Carl West Carruth. She is also survived by her daughter Ellen Dean Carruth and her husband Larry Stephens, her daughter Mary Ann Carruth and her husband Patrick Rinn, and her sister, Hazel Dean Wise. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Clay Carruth, who died December 5, 1967, and her brother, Talmadge Brown Dean. The service in her memory will be held at 11:00 Saturday, December 12, 2015, at St. John's United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, S. C. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's UMC or the charity of one's choice.
