Doris Jea Rafferty

Doris Jean Rea Rafferty, 85, of 1296 Mt. Vernon Road, passed away Thursday January 21, 2010 at her home. A native of Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Rafferty was born March 16, 1924 a daughter of the late Green Lee and Hazel Florence Patterson Rea. She worked for Belk Department Stores and was a homemaker. Mrs. Rafferty graduated from Central High School in Charlotte, attended Peace College in Raleigh and Queen's College in Charlotte. She was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph A. Rafferty and her sister Adeline Walsh. Surviving are her son Gerry Rafferty of Ft. Lawn; two daughters Patti McDaniel of Ft. Lawn and Jan Schell of Catawba; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A graveaside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Rafferty will be held Monday at 2:00PM at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte with Reverend Robert Walsh offiociating.
