Doris Louise Williamson

August 26, 1935 — November 30, 2013

LAKE WYLIE - Doris Garner Williamson, 78, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina passed away peacefully Saturday, November 30, 2013 after an extended illness.

Born in Richmond County, North Carolina, Ms. Williamson moved to Charlotte to raise her family and pursue a long and successful career in real estate sales, development, planning and construction spanning over four decades. Her passion was waterfront property. She was the owner of Williamson Realty and Wylie Realty and was one of the first firms to specialize in water front properties on Lake Wylie. She had offices in Charlotte, North Carolina, Tega Cay/Fort Mill and Lake Wylie, South Carolina.
Ms. Williamson's greatest love was her boys. She also loved entertaining, was a gourmet cook and loved to dance to Carolina beach music. For many years she held an annual luau at the family home on Lake Wylie which was a famous local event. The Williamson home was always busy with activities. Ms. Williamson loved cruising the lake and showing property on her prized yellow boat. She loved cats and rescued many over the years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her three sons, Ben Williamson and wife Linda, Keith Williamson, Anthony Williamson and grandson, Wesley Williamson. She was the daughter of the late Blease Garner and Louise Garner of Wilmington, North Carolina and has two sisters, Betty Williams and Jewell Garner and brother Wayne Garner, all of Wilmington, North Carolina. She was predeceased by sister Jerry Garner.

A candlelight memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Scherer Memorial Presbyterian Church at 4800 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie, South Carolina with Reverend Rick Lindsay officiating.
