Dorothy Nell Burch

INDIAN LAND - Mrs. Dorothy Crawford Burch, 90, of White Oak Manor, South Carolina, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. Born on April 6, 1921, in Lyerly, Georgia, her family moved to Fort Mill, SC in 1934 where she was raised. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Clyde Constantine and Mary Goodson Crawford and the widow of George Franklin Burch. She worked outside the home for many years and then was self-employed as a seamstress sewing draperies, curtains, pillows, etc. at home. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, working with flowers and playing her guitar and singing as long as she was able to do so. Most of all she loved her children and grandchildren. She was a Christian and a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Mill where she was active as long as she was able. She graduated from Fort Mill High School in 1939. Surviving are three sons, George Clyde Burch and his wife, Joyce; Roger Burch, Barry Burch and his wife, Marcia; two daughters, Emily Burch Crenshaw and Lynne Burch Davis and her husband, Harold; 10 grandchildren, Robin Crisp, Todd Walker, Shawn Burch, Tracy Burch, Joseph Burch, Paul Burch, Rebecca (Becca) Burch, Bryce Davis, Stephen Davis and Autumn Davis; and many great grandchildren; five sisters, Margaret Crawford Barfield, Lucile Crawford Ferrell, Marian Crawford Patterson, Agnes Crawford Conway and Mary Clyde Crawford Price, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jason and her grandson Timothy Walker, as well as two sisters, Nadine Ragland, Elizabeth Moore, and a brother, Woodrow Crawford. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Palmetto Funeral Home, Fort Mill, SC with funeral services following at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in the Indian Land Baptist Church cemetery. Condolences to family may be made online at www.palmettofh.com.
