Dorothy Ann Rumreich

August 14, 1945 — October 9, 2024

Tampa, FL

Dorothy Ann Rumreich, affectionately known as Dot, passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on August 14, 1945, in Bronx, NY, she spent her early years in Long Island and worked in Manhattan after college. She retired in South Carolina with her husband Rod & lived in Tampa, FL, where she resided until her passing.

Dorothy grew up in a humble home as the youngest of three siblings, with her brother Hank and sister Lillian. Dorothy worked hard and earned a master's degree in education from a Oswego College in upstate New York. For 30 years, she dedicated her life to teaching elementary school children, instilling in them a love for learning and stressed the importance of education.

A devoted mother, Dorothy adopted two children, Rich and Kristina, who were her greatest pride and joy. She was a strong, loving figure in their lives and remained a source of unwavering support, even as she faced the loss of Richard just a year prior to her own passing.

Dorothy was an avid bridge player and loved to travel, exploring the world and experiencing new cultures. She was known for her honesty, kindness, patience, and sense of humor. Her favorite pastimes included playing cards and board games. (She always won!)

A committed Catholic, Dorothy's faith was a guiding force in her life. She was recognized for her remarkable ability to forgive and her patient nature, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew her. Her motto, "It is what it is," reflected her grounded perspective on life’s challenges.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roderick Hall Rumreich, who passed away in 2011. She is survived by her loving daughter, Kristina, who carries forward her spirit and values.

Dorothy Ann Rumreich will be remembered as a remarkable woman whose love and compassion touched the lives of many. Her legacy of kindness and strength will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
