Obituary for D W "Don" Franklin
D W "Don" Franklin, 86, of Manassas died June 4, 2017, in Fort Mill, SC.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Frances Franklin and his parents, Clyde Allen and Ercelle Ruth Wurts Franklin.

He is survived by one brother Bob Franklin, Ashland, KY.

He has five children, Sondra Dudley of Algonac, MI, Medford "Bud" Beach of Philippines, Richard Franklin of Virginia Beach, VA, Joni Sparks of Fort Mill, SC, and Robert Franklin of Ashburn, VA. He has 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

He served in the US Navy during the Korean War, stationed at the Gun Factory in Anacostia, DC and on the US PCER 855 stationed out of San Diego, CA. He retired from Safeway Stores Inc, after 35 years. Later worked for Kellogg, Inc. and Price Funeral Home.

He was a member of the Manassas Church of the Brethren, a member of the Park-West Lions Club since 1968; also Past President, and received the Melvin Jones award. He was a member of the American Legion Post 10, and Manassas Moose Lodge 1380.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 12:00 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St, Manassas, VA with service at 1:00. A Military Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Nokesville, VA.
