Life Story
Dwayne Vincent Reese, Sr was born to Carl and Theresa Reese on March 29, 1976 at 3:58 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father preceded him in death when Dwayne was a toddler. Dwayne received his primary education at the Christ Memorial and Spruce Hill Christian Academies. When the family relocated to Delaware County, Pennsylvania, he attended and graduated from Penn Wood East Junior High and Penn Wood Senior High in the William Penn School District.
As a small child, Dwayne was dedicated to God in a solemn ceremony. Later, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at the Faith Tabernacle (Mutchmore Memorial) Baptist Church in North Philadelphia where much of his early Christian training occurred. He participated in the Voices of Faith Choir and had a beautiful tenor voice. He later attended services at the Eastwick United Methodist Church in the Eastwick Section of Philadelphia. Dwayne was a very lighthearted, easy-going and spiritual person who did not stray far from his original teachings.
In 1984, his mother Theresa married Ronald (Ron) Francis. Dwayne and Ron immediately developed a father and son relationship that would last throughout the years. In 1985, the family welcomed a new baby boy, Ronald Jr. Dwayne immediately assumed the role of big brother and watched out for his little brother whenever he could. They had a very strong, brotherly bond. In 1991 at a young age, Dwayne became a dad and welcomed baby Danielle into the world. Although, mystified as to being a dad and severely lacking in skills, he tried to do what was right within the limitations. In 2000, Dwayne was blessed with a son and named him Dwayne Jr. Dwayne Sr and Jr became close as father and son and shared many life experiences.
Dwayne worked for numerous corporations - Wawa Food Markets, McDonald’s and Fed Express until he found substantial work in the Transportation Industry with Amtrak, US Airways, and American Airlines. In each capacity, he was a quiet, but hard-working employee that kept mainly to himself. When he made friends, the friendships often turned into long-lasting relationships.
Dwayne was an avid sports fan. His favorite NFL Team, the Philadelphia Eagles whether they won or loss, could do no wrong. He enjoyed talking about sports issues and jokingly bantered with fans who supported other teams. He was looking forward to the new season and felt privileged to have attended the Super Bowl LII Championship Parade in Philadelphia, PA.
Preceding him in death are his father Carl, his grandparents – Lucille, Drusilla and Thomas, his aunts, uncles and cousins. Dwayne leaves to mourn his daughter Danielle (Shaun) and son Dwayne Jr and those he gathered under his wing and called them son or daughter as well - Dystany, Jhadeyon, and Guyelle. His grandsons, Dasai and Doryan. He leaves to mourn his mother Theresa, father Ronald Sr, brother Ronald Jr, Sister-in-Law Sharne’ and sister Yvette (Orlando, Fla). His niece, Ava. Aunt and Uncles - Dr. Winston & Carrie Nottingham and Lawrence Burney, Sr. His first cousins - Nicole, Regina, Lynette, Phillip, Etania and Faye. His closest friends or “brothers and sisters from other mothers” Kareem, Shawante, Roncey and Deidra, they will miss him as well. Finally, he leaves behind a whole host of relatives, friends, coworkers, and former classmates.
Early on Saturday morning - September 7, 2019, God called our Dad, Son, Brother, Nephew, Cousin, Uncle and Friend home. Although it seems sudden to us and without explanation, God knew the time and place he would take him. Let us all thank God for a blessed 43 years. The family is at peace because Dwayne gave his heart to God as a child. We pray that all of those he held dear will do the same. Don’t delay!
Sorrowfully Submitted,
The Family
