Edgar Sheldon Weaver 87, of Tega Cay, SC passed away on died Monday November 5, 2012. Born in Schenectady, New York to Grace M. and Caius E. Weaver, he reached the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from Nott Terrace High School. He served in the US Army during WWII in underwater demolition and infantry and fought under General George S. Patton's Third Army. After his military service, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1951 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He went to work for General Electric Real Estate and Construction Division (RECO) where he later earned his Professional Engineering Certificate. He also attended Harvard Business School of Management. He traveled extensively overseeing International Development for GE and was appointed Vice President of the RECO Division in 1968. After retiring from GE in 1980, he relocated to Tega Cay, SC and accepted a position of Vice President of Research with J.A. Jones Construction Co. He served as Mayor of Tega Cay from 1990 - 1994 and one of the highlights of his term was securing FEMA money for the city after Hurricane Hugo. He was active with the Tega Cay Lions Club. Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeanne Bisgrove Weaver and daughters Christine (Bill) of Maine, Joann of NC and Nancy (Al) of NC; his sister Molly of Nebraska; seven grandchildren; Ryan, Thea, Tyler , Rhya, Zorah, Sheldon and Matthew; two great-grandchildren; Parker and Cooper. The family requests that contributions in memory of Mr. Weaver be made to Tega Cay Lions Club, PO Box 3333, Fort Mill, SC 29708. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Thursday November 8, 2012 at Grace Presbyterian Church, Fort Mill, SC with Rev.
