Edward Bernard Decker

Edward Bernard Decker - husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, died unexpectedly on August 4, 2015 at the age of 90 at Carolinas Medical Center, Pineville NC.

Ed was born in Manhattan, NY on June 30, 1925 to parents Edward Joseph Decker and Mary McDonald. After graduating from high school, Ed joined the Army Air Corp as a bombardier during WW II. Following his military service, Ed attended Tri State College in Indiana and received a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. His first job was with American Cyanamid/Lederle Labs as a process engineer. Ed was a true entrepreneur and started his own company, Solids Flow Control Inc. in 1975. Ed and Millie raised their family first in Wyckoff, NJ and then Mountain Lakes, NJ. He moved his business to South Carolina in 1984 and resided in River Hills in Lake Wylie, SC and most recently Sun City Carolina Lakes, Indian Land, SC.

Ed was blessed with a large and loving family. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy, Gertrude and daughter Sharon. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Millie, their five children, Ed and fiancé Kathi Nicolson, Marlene and husband Bob Stephenson, Michele and husband Rob Runde, Bobby and wife Cindy, Laura and husband Jim Schaefer, 14 grandchildren, Travis and wife Cara, Ryan and wife Rebecca, Bryan and wife Alyssa, Sharon, Colin and wife Sarah, Sean and wife Toni, Joe and wife Lauren, Jerrica, Mary, Jaclyn, Carl, Will, James and Carley and fiancé Ryan and 5 great-grandchildren, Bryce, Nathan, Tomlyn, Camilla and Kendall.

A celebration of life memorial service, officiated by Father John Guiliani will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at St. Phillip Neri Catholic church in Fort Mill, SC. All are welcome to attend a reception afterwards and share a memory or story with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warriors or Saint Jude Children's Hospital.
