Edward "Bill" Lewis Chaney

Fort Mill, SC – Mr. Edward “Bill” Lewis Chaney, died on Monday, October 16, 2023, at his home.

Celebration of Life 11:00 am, Saturday, October 21, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1883 Saluda Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

A native of Baton Rouge, LA, Bill was a son of the late Ross Edward Chaney and Lottie Juanita Lewis Chaney.  He was a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, School of Pharmacy.  He worked at Rapides Regional Hospital as the Director of Pharmacy.  He later taught pharmacology to nursing students at LSU at Alexandria.  He also opened CENLA Professional Pharmacy with business partner Angie Stockton in Pineville, LA.  He was a licensed Pharmacist in three states: Louisiana, Texas, and South Carolina.  He was consultant to many Doctors, Veterinarians and the Alexandria Zoo. After his retirement Bill worked at the Fort Mill Pharmacy for a short time.  He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and he served a mission in Tacoma, WA.  He was a lifetime member of Kiwanis in Pineville, LA and Fort Mill, SC.  Bill enjoyed fishing, duck hunting and telling jokes.  He sang in a barbershop quartet.  He was an avid LSU football fan.  He never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kate Chaney; four children, Kristen Montierth (Braden), Jessica Marker (Scott), Betsy Crofts (Dave) and Tyler Sherman; a sister, Betty Chaney Drew; and 12 grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, Ron Chaney; a brother, James G. Chaney; and a sister, Carol Chaney Taber.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, or Humanitarian Aid Fund .
