Edwin Sam Alexander was born in Tamil Nadu, India in 1940. He was a deeply God-fearing man with many Christian virtues and dimensions. After graduating M.Phil. from Madras Christian College at age 21, his professional career ranged from teaching in Assam to managing various rubber estates in South India. His expertise in the rubber trade was widely appreciated, both as an employee and as a trade and government consultant of considerable repute.
Edwin effortlessly and continually conveyed important lessons to others in the way he lived his own life. He was always willing to privately help individuals in need without seeking recognition for doing so, but he also worked publicly and creatively for many years on various social justice issues in India. Edwin was a committed man and lived an exemplary personal life with his wife, Margaret Alexander. His life always reflected a solid anchoring in the Bible and a steadfast belief that the Lord Jesus will bring him to his eternal home.
In the past decade, Edwin emigrated to the United States, initially residing in Jersey City, New Jersey, and then recently moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. A part of Edwin will always be in Nagercoil, India.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Alexander; daughter, Jessie Monisha Dickenson; son-in-law, Bob Dickenson; sister-in-law, Elsie Dhas; nephews, Dr. Anand Peters, Mr. Justin Peters, Dr. Ashok Lal Mohan, Dr. Ajeet Lal Mohan, as well as many deeply loved ones.
The service for Edwin Alexander will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 16 at Palmetto Funeral Home, 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708. The family will receive friends before the service at the funeral home beginning at 10 AM. Following the service, burial will be held in Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd, Rock Hill, SC 29730
