Elaine Duncan

Elaine Dabney Hegwood Duncan, 85, of 2266 Ferncliff Road, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Piedmont Medical Center. A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Duncan was born June 26, 1925 a daughter of the late Thomas Fleming and Elizabeth Bumgardner Dabney. She was a retired medical secretary and a member of Ebenezer A.R.P. church where she was a member of the Second Mile Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband John Hegwood. Surviving are her husband Thomas Duncan; two daughters Joyce H. Harris and Marie H. Burton both of Rock Hill; three brothers Ray Dabney of Eddyville, KY, Thomas Dabney of Asheville, NC and Frank Dabney of Danville, VA; one sister Patricia Dabney Lorick of Ft. Mill; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Duncan will be held Monday at 3:00pm at Ebenezer A.R.P. church with Dr. Jack Basie and Dr. Mel Wines officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park on S. Cherry Road. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until the hour of service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pilgrims Inn, 236 West Main Street Rock Hill, SC 29730-3911 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
