Eleanor P "Penny" Montgomery

Eleanor "Penny" Peterson Montgomery, 66, a lifelong resident of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017. She was a member of the Rock Hill Elks Lodge #1318, charter member of the former Rock Hill DOES #241, the Anderson DOES #220, Past District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler from 2010-11, South Carolina State Elks Association Vice President-West 2016-18, Past Exalted Ruler 2006-08, Rock Hill Lodge Secretary for 13 years, South Carolina State DOES President 1993, as well as many offices of the Grand Lodge BPO DOES. Penny was a South Carolina Association Hall of Fame Inductee in 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, James O. Montgomery. She is survived by a son, James O. Montgomery Jr. (Michele); two grandchildren, Emma Rose Montgomery and Abbigail Leigh Montgomery; two nieces, Jayne Bass (Gene) and Julie Miller (Jason). A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 4:00pm at Lakewood Baptist Church. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
