Eleanor Ruth Quill-Christman

June 10, 1943 — January 18, 2013

Eleanor Ruth Quill-Christman joined the church triumphant, Friday, January 18, 2013, at age 69. She was born in Breckenridge, Minnesota on June 10, 1943 and resided in Charlotte, NC for the past 10 years. After graduating from Gallaudet University in 1967 with a degree in Home Economics, she taught at the New York School for the Deaf 'Fanwood' for 8 years prior to returning to obtain her Master's Degree at Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) in 1977. As an educator, she was well known for her contributions to children with hearing loss in New York, Philadelphia, Omaha, Washington D.C. and Las Vegas. She is survived by her brother, Gordon Frederick Quill of Mandan, North Dakota; daughter, Mariann Carter (son-in-law, Reverend Richard) and grandchildren, Joshua, Elizabeth and Cora of Fort Mill, South Carolina; daughter, Kathy Christman (son-in-law, Nathan) and grandson, Isaac of Lake Jackson, Texas. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Margaret Quill, of Whapeton, North Dakota; father, Gordon Rossing Quill of Werner, North Dakota and her mother, Lenora Christine Hansen Quill of Bismarck, North Dakota. Visitation will be from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill. A memorial service will be held on January 23 at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church on 416 W. North Main Street in Waxhaw, North Carolina at 1:00 p.m. Her son-in-law, The Reverend Richard T. Carter will preside and Vicar Josh Tucker will assist. Eleanor will be interned in Werner, North Dakota. Eleanor was a member of Crossroads Lutheran Church, Indian Land, South Carolina.
