Eleanor Grace (Finley) Self

Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Eleanor Grace Finley Self, 84, died peacefully Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

The family will receive friends 10:00 am, Saturday, August 3, 2024 at  NewKirk Baptist Church, 175 Museum Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 and services will follow at 11:00 am with the Rev. David Mitchell and Rev. Dr. Patrick McCabe officiating.  Burial will be private.

A native of Rock Hill, SC, Mrs. Self was a daughter of the late George W. Finley and Glenna Ford Finley.  Eleanor worked at the City of Rock Hill for over 20 years, and later retired from York County Planning Department.  In her retirement years she enjoyed playing the piano and singing at different nursing homes. This ministry was an important part of her Christian life.  Eleanor’s passion was sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone she met. She served God in many roles: Eleanor was a pastor’s wife, dedicated mom/grandmother, church pianist (for more than 30 years), and a dedicated prayer warrior. She was also involved in a prison ministry.  She will be remembered for her faithful service at Woodvale Baptist and NewKirk Baptist Church to name a few.    She loved all her family, and her greatest desire was for them and everyone she met to know her Jesus as their Savior.

Surviving are two sons, Ed Self (Julie) and Mark Self (Thea); three daughters, Beth Taylor (Robbie), Julie Buchanan (Dane) and Janice Dulaney; a brother, Danny Finley (Bonnie); seven grandchildren, Tyler, Paige, Scott, Matthew, Robyn, Jacob and Ally, and two great-grandchildren, Eddie and Nora.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Glen Self, Sr; and brother, David Finley.

Memorial donations may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or the Missions Fund at NewKirk Baptist Church, 175 Museum Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732
