Mrs. James Elizabeth Moore "Pinkie" Orr, 98, passed away June 18, 2012 at her home. A native of Rock Hill, Pinkie was the daughter of the late Samuel Moffat Moore and Etta Luvina Johnston Moore. Born January 29, 1914 she worked for M. Lowenstein and Sons for many years before her retirement. She was the organist and choir director for Main Street United Methodist Church for 47 years, and loved her church and church family dearly. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as much as she could. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Roy D. Orr, and two daughters Ann Orr Corley and Mary Orr Garrison. Surviving are a son Sam E. Orr and his wife Leslie of Lexington; a daughter Maria Corley of Rock Hill; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; a special loving friend, Ann Price; and many other family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate Pinkie's life will be held Friday at 2:00pm at Cornerstone United Methodist Church with Revs. Kenneth Bobo and Linda Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Memorials in honor of Pinkie may be made to Interim Hospice, 154 Amendment Ave #105, Rock Hill, SC 29732, or to Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 2697 Heckle Blvd, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family would also like to say a special "Thank You" to Pinkie's caregivers with Interim Hospice who have tirelessly aided her through her final days.
