Elizabeth Smith Stephenson

December 24, 1922 — September 13, 2009

Indian Land- Mrs. Ida Elizabeth Smith Stephenson, 86, died September 13, 2009.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 19, at Banks Presbyterian Church,10012 New Town Road, Marvin, N.C. with Rev. Scott Hilborn officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Eastern Star Rites and the family will receive friends afterwards in the fellowship hall. Viewing of the body will be one hour before the
service.

Born December 24, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Roddey Faris Smith and Lois Neely Smith. She was retired from Crest/Woolworth stores and worked in Charlotte and Rock Hill. She also enjoyed her time as a homemaker and as a member of the South Carolina Family and Community Leaders. She was a charter member of the Indian Land
Eastern Star Chapter 286 and a long time member of Banks Presbyterian Church where she served as treasurer for more than 20 years. She was an elder and an Honorary Life Member of Presbyterian Women. Having been a member for almost 72 years, she was the Church's oldest member.

Surviving are her son, Derryl Stephenson and his wife Toni of El Cajon, California; two grandsons, James (Jane) Stephenson of Fort Mill and Jeremy (Amy) Stephenson of
La Mesa, California; three great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; three brothers, Douglas (Betty) Smith of Rock Hill, Harold (Barbara) Smith of Fort Mill, and Carol (Teresa) Smith of Rock Hill; one sister, Virginia (Bill) Stroup of Fort Mill; sisters-in-law, Bennie Lynch of Indian Land and Mary Smith of Heath Springs; a brother-in-law, Dallas Stephenson of Tega Cay; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Her friends, family and church were very important to her. "Lib" was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Parks Stephenson, Jr., her brother, Roddey Faris Smith Jr., and sister-in-law, Isabelle Stognor.
