Emily Ann (Maytan) Mockovciak

January 15, 1941 — September 6, 2024

Fort Mill

Emily Mockovciak, 83, passed away quietly in her sleep Friday night, September 6, 2024 at home at Sunflower Springs Assisted Living in Indian Land.

A native of Hudson, New York, Emily was the only daughter of Sam and Anna Maytan. She was a courageous, unflinching, creative woman of valor. She was a mother, executive assistant, interior decorator, writer, and Christian missionary who loved her faith, her friends, her family and fearlessly looked forward to life’s next adventure. She also loved bible study, deep conversations about her faith, and being a part of a community. Emily had a practical, unsentimental view of life, enabling her to wholeheartedly say ‘yes’ to each new opportunity.

Emily was married to her late husband, Paul, for 60 years. They lived a rich, unexpected life that took them from New York to years spent in Hawaii, Israel, and the Carolinas. Emily is survived by her three sons, Paul, Michael, and James; six grandchildren, Jordyn, Nicolas, Ben, Lauren, Matthew, and Stefan; and five great-grandchildren, Noah, Elena, Greyson, Sadie and Eunchae.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM, with a service from 3-4 PM on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

A private burial will be held at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.
