Ernest Leroy Sapp, 88, of 736 N. Confederate Ave., passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at UniHeath in Rock Hill. A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Sapp was born Oct. 31, 1920, a son of the late William Leroy and Pearl Elizabeth Lytle Sapp. He was retired from Busby Electric, a member of Northside Baptist Church and was a World War II Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Paul Sapp. Surviving are his wife Doris Wilson Sapp; a son and daughter-in-law, Ernest Leroy "Sonny" and Alva Sapp of Williamston, S.C.; a brother, Roy Sapp of Rock Hill; three sisters, Myrtle Davis of Aiken, S.C., Sarah Fields of Rock Hill and Edith Ledbetter and her husband, Marvin of Rock Hill; one grandson, Jason Sapp and his wife Heather; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Calvin Sapp. The family will receive friends from 12 to 12:45 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Sapp will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, at Grandview Cemetery on Cherry Road. Dr. Jerry Sosebee will be officiating.
