Evelyn Osborne Evans

Mrs. Evelyn Lucille Osborne Evans, 89, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Westminster Health Center, Rock Hill, SC. Born in Galax, VA., a daughter of the late Bays and Bertha Cornett Osborne, and married for sixty years to the late Wallace Rockwell Evans Jr. She was a long time member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Mrs. Evans attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. She was a homemaker, avid golfer and former member of the Catawba Chapter, DAR. She also was a member of The Pendarian Literary Club and Rock Hill Country Club. Surviving is a daughter, Lynda Evans Moore and husband Herbert Bays Moore Jr. of Spartanburg, SC, son Wallace Rockwell Evans III, and wife Nancy Iler Evans of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter Sally Moore Martin and husband Dr. John William Martin of Seneca, SC, grandson, Lehman Rockwell Evans of Charlotte, NC and three great grandchildren, Bays McAtee Martin, John Evans Burwell Martin, and Margaret Lucille Martin. She was preceeded in death by two brothers and five sisters. A private committal service will be held at a later date at St. John's UMC Memorial Garden.
