Faye W. Lucas

July 26, 1951 — March 12, 2025

Rock Hill

Faye W. Lucas, 73, of Rock Hill, SC entered into her eternal rest on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 26, 1951 in Camden, SC, the daughter of the late Emmett B. and Ann Mungo Williams.

Faye was a kindergarten teacher in the Rock Hill School District for 33 years before her retirement. She found joy in teaching children the fundamentals of reading and writing. She taught over two generations of students during her tenure. Her teaching style would bring characters to life in the minds and eyes of her students. Some of her former students still talk about Wanda Witch and Boney Moroney that hung out in her classroom during the Fall months every year.

As a member of Oakland Baptist Church, Faye sang in the Chancel Choir, played handbells, lead children’s choirs, taught Sunday School, served as a Deacon and Trustee, and served on multiple church committees. She had a deep love for people and never forgot a face. She was also known for giving the best hugs in the world. When she wrapped her arms around you, you could feel the love that she had for you.

Most important to her was her family. She will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Angel Manfredi.

She leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by her survivors, her husband of 50 years, Jerry Lucas; daughter, Ashley Lucas of Rock Hill; son, Rev. Ben Lucas of Rock Hill; grandsons, Tyler Lucas (Lauren) of Tega Cay, SC, and Christopher Manfredi of Rock Hill; sisters, Ellen Bennett and Ginny Braddock of Columbia, SC; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Oakland Baptist Church on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 3pm, and the visitation will follow.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the doctors and nurses of the ICU and ER at Piedmont Medical Center for their incredible care, and her church family and friends for their unwavering compassion and support. Please consider becoming an organ and tissue donor like Faye. Visit https://sharinghopesc.org/ for information.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ministry Center or Music Ministry of Oakland Baptist Church.
