Mrs. Faye Wilson, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012, she was 85 years old. Faye was born to John Westley Tipton and Lela Brooks Tipton on September 1, 1926 in Fountain City, Tenn. She attended Central High School in Knoxville and became the Dining Room Manager for an upscale dining establishment in Knoxville called 'The Regis' for over 25 years. In 1977, she married the love of her life, Gene Wilson, and became his bride of 33 years as well as an integral part of his business, Gene Wilson & Associates, Inc. Faye was the ultimate hostess and loved entertaining and cooking for friends and family. She made entertaining look effortless. Every meal began with Dad saying grace and then everyone would instinctively look to Faye as she always so humbly would say...'such as it is'! She had all the wit and charm of a true Southern lady. Faye loved having Tennessee vs. South Carolina football parties and lovingly poking fun at her husband whenever USC would lose. Through the years, some of Faye's favorite times were spent playing Poker with her sisters and nieces when they would all visit each other. She loved their shopping trips together and couldn't wait until they could all be together again, as Faye would joke, so she could take their nickels and quarters again in Poker. Family was everything to Faye whether it was spending time with her husband, her sisters, nieces, nephews, stepchildren and their children. Although Alzheimer's eventually took her precious memories, it never took her keen sense of humor. When Dr. Carl Hughes asked her if he could take some blood from her, Faye quickly replied, 'Only if I can take some of yours'. Faye's love of people always shined through. It never mattered that she no longer remembered us, she was a joy to be with and there is no question she knew she was loved. The family would like to thank all of Faye's compassionate and loving caregivers at The Haven, Village at Carolina Place as well as Dr. Vermeulen, Jill Martino, MSW and Carolyn Brockington, RN from Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region. Faye is preceded in death by her husband, James "Gene" E. Wilson; her parents; sisters Dorotha, Alice, Mary Ann; brothers Deadrick, Charles, Jack, Joe W. and Olen. She is survived by her step-children, Pam Fisher and her husband, Dr. David Fisher, Tina Bobrowski and her husband, Robert Bobrowski and David Wilson; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Unity Presbyterian Church (Historical Sanctuary) in Fort Mill with Rev. Jeannie Bickett and Rev. Dan Holloway officiating. Interment will following in Unity Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:40 PM prior to the service at the church.
