Felix Zayas, age 45 of San Juan, Puerto Rico passed away on April 12, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness, strength, and love.
Felix was born to Jose Filibert Zayas (Father) and Eugenia A. “Rubia” Hernandez (Mother) on January 18, 1979, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
He grew up in Christian Day Academy and finished High School in Bonneville Academy. He also pursued a degree in Business and Marketing from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico Metropolitan Campus in San Juan.On November 19, 2005, Felix married the love of his life Marideli “Mara” Burgos. They built a beautiful life in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico then moved to Charlotte, NC and most recently to Fort Mill, South Carolina. There, they raised their two beloved daughters Valentina (13 years old) and Estella (12 years old).
Professionally, Felix was a hard-working employee at Wells Fargo in Charlotte NC; where he applied himself diligently with commitment and dedication evident in every task he undertook. Felix had a longing for life, enjoying various activities including dog handling, driving motorcycles, reading and listening to music. He had a passion for his family and friends. Always eager to spend quality time with them, having meaningful conversations, always a talker. He used his hands to build things for those he loved like the walk-in closet for his wife and a dedicated prayer closet room.
Felix was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC where he and his family joined its community. Felix found fulfillment in serving in all types of ministries like worship as well as youth and men’s ministries. Felix was also part of the safety team and for a period of time he drove the bus for Stepping Stones, the church ministry for children and young adults with special needs. Known for his courage and drive, Felix was always available and ready to lend a helping hand. Whether it was moving pine needles for the Youth or assisting with clean up. He embodied the spirit of servitude.
Felix is preceded in death by his father Filibert Zayas. He is survived by his loving wife Marideli “Mara” Burgos, adoring daughters Valentina and Estella, Mother Eugenia “Rubia” Hernandez, Brother Jose F. Zayas, Brother Javier Zayas and Sister Thania Zayas. As well as his loving nephews Alejandro, Sebastian, Noah, Adrian and his sweet nieces Joseline and Khalia. Father-in-Law Milton Burgos and Mother-in-Law Mary Burgos, Brother-in-Law Milton Burgos, Sister-in-Law Melissa Burgos and Nephew Julian Fernandez whom he considered the son he never had.
A viewing will be held at Palmetto Funeral Home located at 2049 Carolina Pl, Fort Mill, SC from 6:00pm - 9:00 pm on Friday, April 19, 2024, and a memorial service to honor and celebrate Felix’s life at Christ the King Lutheran Church located at 13501 S Tryon St, Charlotte, NC at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

The Celebration of Life will be streamed in English and Spanish.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to Javesca Feeds or Casa Bernabe in Guatemala through Christ the King Church, causes that were very close to Felix’s heart. He dreamed of visiting the Guatemalan orphanage with his wife and daughters.
