Fernando Salvador “ Gordito” of Charlotte, NC and formerly of Bahia de Caraquez, Ecuador, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, December 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Abril 16, 1947 in Bahia de Caraquez, Ecuador, the son of the late Fernando Salvador and Maria Villao.
My father was the most considerate, generous, helpful person you could ever meet. He would give his shirt and shoes off his feet and back to anyone in need. I know because I saw him do it many times. Not only did he fathered my Brother Billy and me, but he was also father to many of our friends who grew up in broken homes. He taught us to stay humble, respectful, athletic, confident, loyal, and Loving. He also helped his friends in need, always offered his home to stay for people and families who came to USA from his home town Ecuador. He always bailed out his friends that got into trouble and never ask for anything in return. A musician that loved to sing and dance with families and friends at all the Hispanic gatherings. Many turned their backs on him, but he still showed them, love. A soccer coach in which he led high school team and select team to Championship and at the same time had 3 jobs just so we can have things and live comfortably. He loved everyone even when he was in pain, always had a sadness to him. I see how strong he was now that I am older. He was younger than me when his father passed away, I remember clearly, my father was out of the country in the USA at that time, He and I rushed to Ecuador SA, missed a few flights along the way, he shed a few tears so quietly that I wouldn't see, I saw everything, his efforts to be with my Grandfather until the end. Now is our turn to be with him and show him all the love and respect for him.
He leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by his survivors, his wife of 66 years, Colombia Salvador ; sons, Fernando Jr Salvador , Billy John Salvador and daughters, Maria Patricia, Laura and Rocio Pablo; sister, Graciela Salvador; and a host of family and friends.
A Celebration of life service will be held by the family.
