Florence Girard Sparks

Florence Girard Sparks, a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and cherished sister, passed away peacefully on February 18th, 2025, in Pineville, NC. Born on August 4th, 1943, in Rock Hill, SC, Florence was a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew her.

After graduating from East Mecklenburg High School in 1961, Florence pursued her passion for faith and service by attending Bible school in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. This is where she met her best friend, Betsy Williams. Her life was a testament to her faith as she continued to convey her warmth and generosity to everyone around her.

Florence found interest in a few different careers over her life, with the most notable ones being working for the governor of Texas, selling furniture at Dillard's, and moving on to sell jewelry at Belk. 

A deeply caring and giving individual, Florence's life was rooted in kindness and selflessness. Her friendly nature and generous spirit drew people to her, making her a beloved member of every community she was part of.

Florence is survived by her loving daughter, Sandra Bruce, and her three grandchildren, Kelly Bruce, Sean Bruce, and Connor Bruce. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert J. Girard Jr. (Mary Anne) and Scott C. Girard (Paulette), and her sister, Irene Girard Hathaway. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Joseph Girard Sr. and Elizabeth White Girard.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Florence touched are invited to remember and celebrate her life at a Visitation to be held at Calvary Church Chapel on March 1st at 10 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 am. She will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill, SC.

Florence's memory will continue to inspire and guide those who knew her, and all will dearly miss her.
