Floyd Aubrey Robinson

Floyd A. Robinson, age 88 of Fort Mill, SC went to be with his Lord early Saturday morning December 19, 2015 at CMC Pineville. Born in Ellerbe, NC, Floyd was the son of Claude and Judie Robinson and grew up on a tobacco farm, learning engine mechanics at an early age. He used these skills at Brown Equipment, Concrete Supply, Carolina Rim & Wheel, Springs Service, Parts Exchange, and finally Adesa, where he worked up until the day before he was taken ill.

Floyd is survived by children: Ginny White and husband Barry of Mint Hill, NC; Steve Robinson and wife Cindy of Moreland, GA; five grandchildren: Matthew White and wife Melanie, Laurel Ann Robinson and fiancé Karl Glas, Brianna Crouch, Colt Crouch, and Chase Crouch; one great grandchild, Eleanor White. Floyd is also survived by one sister Mary Foreman Vuncannon and husband Ed of Ellerbe; and two beloved sisters-in-law Mary Courtney of Charlotte and Mary Robinson of Ft. Myers, Florida.

Floyd received Jesus at the age of 15 and was always active in a local church; these included: First Baptist, Ellerbe, Southside Baptist, Charlotte, Church of Today, Tega Cay and Grace Presbyterian, Fort Mill.

Floyd's service to others was well known in both the Charlotte area and in Fort Mill, where he had served as a volunteer fireman since 1952. In 1993 Floyd was honored as SC Volunteer Fireman of the Year.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Judie Robinson, his first wife Rey and second wife Nancy, and his brothers W.C Jr., James, and Clyde Robinson. Floyd would also want to acknowledge the following special friends that loved and supported him over many years: BJ and Fred Durston, Bill Kruysman, Steve and Jeanne Rapp, and Scott Szymanski.

A memorial service celebrating Floyd's life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, Jan 2, 2016 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2955 Highway 160, Fort Mill, SC 29708, near the intersection of Gold Hill Rd and Highway 160 with Rev. Dr. JoAnne Sizoo officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Tega Cay Fire Department, 7200 Tega Cay Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708 and Grace Presbyterian Church, 2955 Highway 160, Fort Mill SC 29708.
