Frank Jason King

Frank King, 50, of Fort Mill, died Sunday morning, November 7th, 2021, at his home, after a four-year battle with cancer. He was born June 7th, 1971, in Greensboro, NC, son of Walter and Nancy King of Matthews, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Katie King of the home; son, Ethan Ross King of Charlotte; daughter, Emily Ann King of Charlotte; stepdaughter, Emma Causey of Fort Mill; stepson, Ryder Causey of Fort Mill; and his parents.

Frank, also often referred to as Jason, was employed with Hendrick BMW Pre-Owned, where he won several awards for his performance in sales and was more than once the top BMW pre-owned salesperson in the southeastern United States.  He went on to become a corporate sales trainer with Hendrick Automotive Group.

Frank was a man of many interests and talents. He served briefly in the United States Marine Corps, attended culinary school, managed high end hotels, and worked in many of Charlotte's finest restaurants. As a self-taught pastry chef, Frank was invited to be the pastry chef at hotels in Chicago and New Orleans, which he declined. He owned his own cheesecake company and made some of the very best, and largest, cheesecakes, of which he sold to charlotte area restaurants.

He loved to travel, and delighted in trips to New York City, Hawaii, California, Florida, Jekyll Island, and Greenville, South Carolina. He would frequently journey to Charleston and throughout North Carolina, where in fact, he cherished camping with his son at Mount Mitchell State Park. Frank also ventured to international destinations including Bermuda, as well as Paris. However, he was most fond of Savannah, Georgia, where he and his wife Katie were married.

He also found pleasure in painting, and some of his artwork hangs in the homes of family members.

Frank always had an interest in vintage cars. He often came home with Volvos, Buicks, Corvairs, and once even a Yugo, and he never paid over $500 for any of them. Incredibly, he once bought a 1936 Chevrolet from the back yard of a local home for $250 and traded that for an MG convertible!

It was his interest in cars that led him to Hendrick BMW and Hendrick Automotive Group. The family would like to thank all his teammates for their outstanding support and dedication during his battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill SC.
