Fred M "Bud" Blackwell

Fred (Bud) M. Blackwell, age 78, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 at home surrounded by family. He was the husband of LaDonna Maria Blackwell, they shared 25 years together.

Born February 20, 1941 in Rock Hill, he was the son of the late Daniel and Inez (Huggins) Blackwell. Fred grew up in Rock Hill with his three siblings, Geneva Hudson, Lewis Blackwell and Betty Lamb.

Fred joined the Army in 1956 at the age of 15 and completed jump school in Fort Bragg, NC. Throughout his lifetime he had many jobs but found the most reward driving the open roads of the U.S. as a long-haul truck driver before retiring in 2003. He took great pride in working in his yard and spending time with his family. Fred never met a stranger and loved to laugh.

In addition to his wife LaDonna, he is survived by his children Daniel (Buddy) Blackwell and wife Paula, Fred (Matt) Blackwell II and wife Nickie, Terrie Minton, Sherri Kee, nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill.

A Service to Celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home with Pastor David Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Hudson, Matt Blackwell, Buddy Blackwell, Paul Blackwell, Rick Allison and Bryan McCloskey.
