Frederick William Knopf III, of Fort Mill, battled a devastating form of Parkinson's Disease called Lewy Body. It included more complications, most horribly, dementia. His dedicated wife Lori stood by his side through the 10 years of trials the disease took on Fritz's body. Everyday activities, including his passion for Holden Beach, golf, and fishing were increasingly limited. Family holidays, weddings, and vacations became difficult for all who loved him as the disease progressed. His affliction, and the accompanying complications, often felt more agonizing than death. This pain was graciously lifted by the almighty Lord and Savior on Monday, September 25, 2017, and Fred suffers no more. Formerly of Flint, Michigan, Fritz honorably graduated from the University of Michigan, with a Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering. He spent the majority of his career in Huntsville, Alabama, as a consultant to the United States military, contracting Top Secret projects. He received many awards and accolades as part of his contribution to the Defense Program. His charismatic personality and contagious humor impacted benevolence in all who interacted with Fritz. He is survived by his devoted wife Lorraine, of Fort Mill, mother-in-law Lillian, brother Richard Knopf, of Tempe, Arizona, his wife Janet, their children and families, children Daryl, of D.C., Eric, of Asheville, and Sarah, of Atlanta, step-children Bradford, of Atlanta, Pamela, of Charlotte, Marsha, of Nashville, and all corresponding spouses. Fritz also leaves behind 5 beautiful grandchildren, who had the honor and pleasure of knowing and loving their Papa. Fritz will be sorely missed by all those in his life. May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. Peace, Love, and Happiness always. Godspeed, Frederick Knopf...
