Fred Weidmann, 87, of Oakland, NJ, and formerly of Long Beach, CA, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 22, 2021, at home.
Born on June 1, 1934, in Paterson, NJ, Fred was the beloved son of Henry and Ruth Weidmann (Baechlin). He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a Master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, embarking on a rewarding career as a mechanical engineer.
Fred was known for his competitive spirit and diverse passions. A skilled pianist and lover of classical music, Fred also excelled at chess, bridge, and sports. He proudly served as catcher for his company’s softball team for over 20 years, was an accomplished bowler, and a lifelong fan of the Duke Blue Devils, Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Yankees, New York Giants, and New York Rangers. Fred’s love extended to animals, especially his cherished cats and Cindy, the family dog.
Fred’s faith was central to his life, and he was an active member of Fardale Trinity Church. His legacy includes the values he instilled in his family and the joy he shared with friends and loved ones.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruth Weidmann; and his sister, Ruth Trimble.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Sarah Weidmann( now deceased) ; his sons, Richard (Anna his wife) Weidmann and Michael Weidmann; his grandchildren, Christian, Kaden, and Carson Weidmann; and his nephew and niece, Peter and Suzie Trimble.
