Gail Francis Reninger

Gail Francis Reninger died on November 6, after a struggle with Alzheimers Disease, at the age of 77. Gail passed peacefully, in his home, surrounded by his family in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Born in Bradford Pennsylvania, on August 21, 1937, to Nolene and Howard Reninger, Gail was the youngest of eight siblings and lived in Custer City while growing up. He graduated from Bradford High School, Class of 1955, and immediately joined the U.S. Air Force along with several classmates. In 1957, Gail returned to Pennsylvania, and married his high school sweetheart, Maxine Ross. After accepted a job in Lansing, Michigan, they moved in 1973. Shortly thereafter, Gail joined the Edward C. Levy Company in Detroit. Well regarded as a problem-solver and a manager of change, Gail's assignments took him & his family to Indiana, Detroit and Australia. He retired to Mt. Vernon, Ohio in 2000, where he enjoyed his family, grandchildren and golf. An animal lover, Gail was passionate about dogs and horses, and spent many years raising, breeding, training and showing the majestic Paso Fino horse in local, regional and national competitions for 24 years. He was a member of the Great Lakes Paso Fino Federation, where he served as President, and the Paso Fino Horse Association since 1986 People that knew Gail respected him for many things, most of which was perhaps his unwavering sense of family. He adored his loving wife of 57 years, Maxine, who survives him; as well as his 4 children, Steve Reninger and Kelley (Victor) Franchetto, both of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Susan (Donn) Reninger- Ditzhazy of Granville, Ohio and Kathryn (Brian) Gonia of Newport, Michigan. Gail is also survived by nine grandchildren; Rebecca Sullivan Wilson of Crown Point, Indiana, Shelby (Aaron) Goodrich of Chesapeake Ohio, Donnelly, Kennedy and Anderson Ditzhazy of Granville Ohio, Christina and Colin Gonia of Newport Michigan, Chelsea (Kyle) Albertie and Jessica McHale of Birmingham, Michigan, and five great-grandchildren: Fallon Sullivan, Norah and Grant Goodrich and Keegan Albertie. He is also survived by two sisters; Ruby Cataldo of Warren Pennsylvania and Carolyn Neel of Riverside California , sister and brother-in-law Janice and Bill Paulik of Bradford , Pennsylvania as well as several nieces and nephews. Gail was preceded in death by brothers Haven, Howard and Tom Reninger, and by sisters Aletha Garcia and Shirley Peters. Even though he had moved from Custer City , he remained true to the Custer City Methodist Church where he had belonged as a child, was married in, and had celebrated many stages of his life. He often referred to Custer City and this church as his home. A Celebration of Life will be held at that church on Saturday, November 22 at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Custer City Methodist Church, PO Box 42, Custer City PA 16725 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
