Gail S. Robinson

April 15, 1941 — February 26, 2010

Mrs. Gail S. Robinson, age 68, of Fort Mill, SC went home to be with the Lord on February 26, 2010. Gail was born in Long Beach, California on April 15, 1941. She graduated from Banning High School in Wilmington CA in 1959, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education in 1963 from Long Beach State College. That same year, she married the love of her life, Beale Anthony Robinson. The Robinsons relocated to North Canton, Ohio in 1978, raised their family, retired, and moved to Fort Mill, SC in 2006.
Gail was truly a beautiful person inside and out. She had a way of making everyone in her presence feel accepted, cared for, and loved. She was intelligent, diplomatic, and a devout follower of Christ at true Southern lady. She touched many lives, and the world is a better place because of her. Gail always put her family first, and was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her mother, Birdie McCoy Salyers, and father, William H. Salyers. Gail leaves behind her beloved husband of 47 years, Beale, brothers Thomas P. Salyers (Barbi) of Redondo Beach, CA and Robert Brian Salyers of Lakewood, CA, son Daniel B. Robinson of Florida, daughter Laurie (Greg) Pazzo, and grandchildren Kyle, Julie, and Ryan Pazzo, all of Tega Cay, SC as well as other relatives across the country.
Gail was a member of and care group leader in the LifeWay Sunday school class at First Baptist Church of Fort Mill. She was an avid historian and researcher. Another of her great passions was the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) in which she held many offices, including Chairman of General By-Laws committee, member of General Finance committee, President of the Great Great Granddaughters Club, member and past President of the LaSalle Corbell Pickett UDC Chapter in Ohio, strong supporter of the Children of the Confederacy (CofC); past Recording Secretary of General, pas President of Ohio Division, UDC, and organizer and past president of the Johnsons Island Memorial Committee. She was an organizing member of the Nation Ford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
She maintained her membership in the Order of the Eastern Star in Long Beach, CA. Other organizations to which Gail belonged include the Salisbury Confederate Prison Association, Civil War Preservation Trust, Macon County (NC) Historical Society, and the Pickett Society.
A celebration of Gails life will be held at Palmetto Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708, on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 3:00 PM. The service will be followed by a visitation and reception at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to either Hospice & Community Care of Rock Hill, SC ( www.hospicecommunitycare.org ), or the UDC General Scholarship Fund. Checks should be made payable to Treasurer General UDC and mailed to the Business Office (328 North Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220-4009). In the memo line, please indicate General Scholarship Fund in memory of Gail Robinson.
