Gary Eugene Gore

March 28, 1941 — June 1, 2022

Fort Mill

Gary Eugene Gore, 81, of Fort Mill passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Gary was born on March 28, 1941 in Reform, Alabama to the late Broadus Whitaker and Elvia Potts Gore. He was a graduate of Pensacola High School in Pensacola, FL, and Auburn University. He was also a proud Vietnam Veteran in the United States Air Force. He then worked for the CIA before becoming a general manager for Piccadilly Cafeterias, where he remained for 25 years, until his retirement.  Gary enjoyed reading books about geography and airplanes, listening to a variety of music, and telling stories about his childhood, military days, and his first date with Carol at Auburn.  He was also very proud of his grandchildren, and loved attending their horseback riding lessons and ball games.  But more than anything, he enjoyed his lunch and movie dates with Carol, his wife of 51 years.  He will be remembered as a quiet, gentle, loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anita Pearl Gore, and his wife, Carol Wilson Gore.

Those left to cherish his memory include son David Gore, daughter Emily Buechlein and husband Nathan, all of Fort Mill, SC, grandchildren Morgan and Alex Buechlein, and sister-in-laws; Betty Jo Payne and Edie Lloyd, both of Rome, GA. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
