Gary Robinson, of Tega Cay, SC, age 87, passed away August 24, 2002. Gary was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his wife, JoAnn, and his 4 daughters, Wendy and husband Rob, Becky, Denise, and Teraysa.
Born October 8, 1934, in Coeburn, VA to Rosa Mae and Guy Robinson, a retired US Army Sergeant. Gary was adored by his mother, who raised him to be true gentleman and followed in his father’s footsteps to join the military, serving in the US Airforce as a young man. Gary settled in Battle Creek, MI and found his calling in print sales. He was a natural born salesman and began a productive career in the print and then the color separation business.
Gary met the love of his life, JoAnn, and they were married in 1971, blending their families and creating many happy memories, most of which involved packing picnics and going on adventures with their kids to lakes and amusement parks in the family station wagon.
The family moved to High Point, North Carolina in 1976 where Gary started his own company, Color Graphics. He developed many successful relationships throughout his career and was well loved by his friends and respected by his peers. Gary provided a wonderful life for his family, and enjoyed time being at Lake Norman on their sailboat and later at Smith Mountain Lake on weekends. Gary and JoAnn loved having family and friends come to the lake where great memories of jet ski rides, fishing, skiing, floating, and boat rides, were made.
Gary and JoAnn celebrated their 50th anniversary this past October. Their marriage was a dedicated one, and the commitment to one another was inspiring. Gary was a proud Grandpa to grandsons Cole and wife Landon, Casen, and Nathan as well as his four granddaughters, Kara and husband Dan, Katie and husband Eric, Emma, and Ellie, and great grandpa to Amelia.
These last few years have been spent in an amazing neighborhood filled with friends. Gary was always ready to tell a story or two, about his girls, (all 5 of them), jokingly complaining about how expensive they all were, and how much money he spent on toilet paper. If you know, you know. He loved playing canasta, having coffee and breakfast with friends, or visiting with others while walking the dog.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
