Gene Furr

Edgemoor - Mr. Hoyle Eugene (Gene) Furr, 86, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at his home

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Greater Life Baptist Church, formally known as Independent Bible Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will be in Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Fort Mill, SC.

Born in Mecklenburg County, NC Mr. Furr was a son of the late Henry Furr, Sr. and May Green Furr. He was a member of Greater Life Baptist Church, formally known as Independent Bible Baptist Church. He retired from Cone Mills in 1992. He was a devoted Christian who loved to read his Bible daily. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to garden and share vegetables from his garden with family and friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia F. Bradshaw and Angela Ann Grant; 3 grandchildren, Paul Grant, Mary Whiteside, and Jenny McGraw; 7 great grandchildren, David Grant, Victoria Stephen, Christopher Grant, Alexis Grant, William McGraw, Trevor Whiteside, and Abby Whiteside and 1 great-great grandson, Jason Grant. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Keeffe Furr and a brother, Henry Lee Furr, Jr.
