Geneva Mcclannon Oates

Geneva McClannon Oates, 87, of York, SC passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC. Mrs. Oates, a retired nurse, is survived by her husband of 68 years, David B. Oates; children, Brenda Sandifer (Frank) of York, Rev. J. Steve Oates (Mary Ruth) of Rock Hill, and Sara Durso (Terry) of Fort Mill, SC; three sisters, Christine Hinkle, Mary Lynn Tussey, and Vivian Jamerson; grandchildren, Geoffrey Durso of Columbus, OH, Lt. Will Sandifer, US Navy, of Fort Mead, MD, and Sara Louise Watts (Harley) of Charleston, SC; and one great-grandchild, Capers Watts. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Smith McClannon and Alda N. McClannon, and three brothers, Sinclair McClannon, J.W. McClannon and Roy McClannon. Funeral services will be held 2pm Monday, August 18, 2014 at Tirzah A.R.P. Church with visitation to follow in the Family Life Center. Viewing will be from 1-2pm Monday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Tirzah A.R.P. Church or to the church's cemetery fund, 6161 Mt Gallant Rd, York SC 29745.
