George Edward Gast, Jr

George Edward “Ed” Gast, Jr, of Fort Mill, SC and formerly of Louisville, KY passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at his home.

He was a lifelong employee of Continental Tire (General Tire), starting his career in 1969 after graduating from Bellarmine College in Louisville.  Over his distinguished career he made many lifelong friends and was a true asset to the tire manufacturing industry.  Ed was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. He had many interests and hobbies including golf, offshore fishing, Nascar and traveling.

He was preceded in death by to his parents, George Edward Sr and Doris Jean, he was also preceded in death by his brother Jerry Gast.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Ann; sons Jim Gast and wife, Rochelle; John Gast and wife, Sabrina; grandchildren, Katherine Gast (Zach), Josh Gast (Kourtney), Ashley Gast, and Jordan Gast and three great grandchildren; brothers Charlie Gast (Doris); Jim Gast (Rita); and sister and law Donna Gast.

Visitation will be Sunday May 19th from 1pm to 4pm at Palmetto Funeral Home - Fort Mill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Community Care of Rock Hill.
