Georgene Terry Sanders

October 18, 1921 — July 14, 2016

Georgene T. Sanders, 94, of Rock Hill, died Thursday, July 14, 2016. She was born Oct. 18, 1921 in Middlebury Vermont. She was a graduate of Winthrop Training School and a 1942 graduate of Winthrop College. She worked for many years at the Winthrop College library. Georgene was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church, a member of the AAUW and the Drama Club there within, a 50 year Volunteer of the American Red Cross, a member of the Amelia Pride Book Club, an avid scrabble player, reader, and crossword puzzle solver. But her most loved treasure, was her beloved cottage at Emory Grove in Glyndon, MD that served as an old time Methodist retreat that had belonged to her grandmother. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Charles, parents Elwood I. and Frances R. Terry, sister Charlotte Connolly and best friend, Marjorie Jones. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Terry Coffey (Tom), Susan Fuqua (Kevin), Nancy Todd; 3 grandchildren, Michael Coffey (Shannon), Andrew Coffey and Bobby Adams ; a great granddaughter, Nora Coffey and a sister, Helen Marsh. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 11:00am in the Laurelwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Johns United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the charity of one's choice. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Spring Arbor at Brookdale Assisted Living, the Senior Helpers, and Providence Hospice for all of their kindness and effort.
