Gerald D'Wayne Stout

July 5, 1966 — March 4, 2021

Gerald D’Wayne Stout, age 54 of York, South Carolina passed away at home on Thursday, March 4, 2021.

Gerald was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 5, 1966 to Milburn and Virginia Stout. As a child, he was stubborn, did not listen, and was often a troublemaker with his siblings. He attended Olympic High School and went on to work at Classic City Mechanical as a foreman for nearly 27 years. He was a hardworking man and supported his family for many years.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Gerald. He enjoyed Sunday afternoons watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play football and loved NASCAR racing. Gerald enjoyed golfing, fishing, and baked phenomenal brownies. Gerald was the life of the party. He loved singing rock n’ roll, tending to his garden, and watching the Andy Griffith Show. Gerald was a hard worker and passed his hard work ethic to his children. He always helped others in their times of need and always put his family first. He loved spending time with his children, nieces, nephews, and his granddaughter. In 2014, Gerald’s life changed drastically after having a massive stroke; however, his kind heart, silly jokes, and love for music remained the same. His big hugs, random songs he sang, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer, of 29 years; his sons Gerald Jr. and Nicholas (Katana); his daughters Jennifer (Darron) and Ashley (Eduardo); his granddaughter Maliyah; his sisters Cindy (Steve), Kem (Leland), and Linda; his brother Michael (Tina); and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Milburn and Virginia; his in-laws Roy and Clara Tittle ; sister Brenda Patrick; and nephews “Boadie” McDonald and Billy Mullis.

The family would like to thank the Adult Enrichment Center in York, SC for loving Gerald and helping him rehabilitate after his stroke. The family would also like to thank Palmetto Funeral Services and Liberty Baptist Church.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Liberty Baptist Church at 410 Blessed Hope Road York, SC 29745 with Preacher Matt Burrell officiating. Visitation hours are 11am-1pm with services to follow at 1pm.
