Gerard 'Jerry' Raymond Lafreniere

Gerard (Jerry) Raymond Lafreniere, age 58, of Fort Mill, S.C., passed away on Saturday July 21, 2012 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, S.C. Jerry was born on February 17, 1954 in Waterbury, Conn., and was the son of the late Doril and Anna Neumann Lafreniere. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judith Ann Morrissette Lafreniere of Fort Mill; their cat, Peaches and dog, Dolly; and an adopted daughter, Tammy Lynn Deringer who resides in Maine. In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by his siblings, Betty Minucci and her husband, Frank of Watertown, Conn., Jeanne Bordner and her husband, Ted of Thomaston, Conn., James Lafreniere of Morris, Conn., and Roger Lafreniere and his wife, Denise of Farmington, Conn.; as well as many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Maurice and John Andrew. Jerry was a wonderful man who was also survived by an abundance of friends who loved him like a brother. Jerry graduated from Watertown High School in Watertown, Conn. in 1972. He was employed by Winchester Electronics in Wallingford, Conn., for 30 years until moving to South Carolina, where he volunteered for Paws in the Panhandle, a non-profit, no-kill adoption shelter in Indian Land, S.C. Visitation and services will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2012 in the new sanctuary of Unity Presbyterian Church of Fort Mill, with the Rev. Jeannie Bickett officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., immediately followed by the service. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall afterwards. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Caringbridge.org or Paws in the Panhandle, PO Box 1802, Indian Land, S.C. 29716-1802.
