Glenn W. "Jack" Jackson

March 1, 1931 — April 11, 2021

Glenn W. “Jack” Jackson, Ed. D., passed away at home on April 11th, in the company of family members in Indian Land, SC.  He was a proud Mensan, world traveler, accomplished storyteller, loving husband, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Dr. Jackson was born in Parkersburg, WV and raised in Akron, OH graduating in 1948 from Hower Vocational High School.  He was a scholar, earning four degrees at the University of Akron; B.S. in Industrial Management, M.B.A., M.S. in Technical Education, and Ed.D.

He was a Korean War era veteran of the United States Navy, serving on active duty from 1951-1955 as an Aviation Electronic Technician 1st Class and as an instructor at the Naval Technical Training School in Memphis, TN.  His career included working at Babcock-Wilcox, Goodyear, and culminating as Professor of Technology at Kent State University from which he retired in 1991.  After retirement, he lived in Iuka, MS and Indian Land, SC.

He was an active, longtime member of Mensa, particularly enjoying the friendships of the North Alabama (Huntsville) chapter members.  His interests included flying and collecting model airplanes, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, electronics projects, traveling internationally, and reading.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Evelyn Janet Walker Jackson and by his two sisters Evelyn and Mabel. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 20 years Shirley Bereczky Farkas Jackson; sister Marilyn Fidler; stepchildren Gary Farkas (Lori), Jean Burinsky (David), Sheryl Midwinter (Robert), Stephen Farkas (Marsha); niece Gayle Fidler; nine grandchildren (their spouses); and twelve great-grandchildren.

Memorialization will be privately by the family.
