Greg Clifford Kimsey

Greg Clifford Kimsey, CPA, 69, passed away on February 12, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Born on July 30, 1955, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Greg built a life defined by hard work, honesty, and a deep devotion to his family and community.

After high school, Greg studied Business Administration at the College of Charleston before embarking on a career as a Certified Public Accountant that spanned decades. He began working in 1980 with Pratt, Welch, and Company in Charleston, South Carolina, and later joined the practice of Jim Flaskerud in 1998, eventually becoming the sole owner of the business. Over the years, he built lasting relationships with his clients, often serving multiple generations of families. His dedication to his profession and unwavering integrity earned him deep respect from those he worked with.

In addition to his work and family life, Greg found immense joy on the golf course, where he spent countless hours with his father and brother. A devoted animal lover, he took great care of his rescue Westie dogs, especially in their later years of life, providing them with medical care and a loving home. He also had a unique appreciation for collecting pens, a hobby that reflected his attention to detail and appreciation for fine craftsmanship.

Greg's kindness and generosity touched all who knew him. He was known for his gentle nature, quick wit, and never-ending supply of “dad jokes.” He had a strong commitment to his family and was selflessly charitable, quietly giving to organizations and individuals in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Eloise Kimsey, and his brother, Dr. Gary Carlton Kimsey. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Deborah Storer Kimsey; his daughter and “Daddy’s Girl,” Christina Kimsey; his son-in-law, Noah Smith; his sister-in-law, Roberta “Bobbi” Kimsey; his nephews, Charles Clifford Kimsey and Glen Joseph Kimsey; his cousins, Linda Price and Donald J. Teague; his “work family,” Brenda Parrish, a faithful collaborator for 25 years; along with his dogs Mac, Lilly, and Angel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 21, 2025, at Unity Presbyterian Church in Fort Mill, South Carolina. The service will begin at 11:00 AMat 303 Tom Hall Street. A reception will follow at the church.
