Guy Joseph LaBorde Jr, Age 91, of Fort Mill, SC passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Wellmore of Tega Cay. Guy was born October 10, 1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of Guy Joseph LaBorde, Sr and Adele Lemoine LaBorde.
Guy was raised in New Orleans and Mansura, Louisiana. He was a WWII Navy veteran and served in the submarine service in the North Pacific. In 1948, Guy married the love of his life, Billie McCarley and together they lived all over the United States and overseas. They raised three children and nurtured six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Guy worked for Amoco Chemicals for 33 years all over the U.S. and, Belgium Mexico, and Brazil and after retirement,was called back to assist with a plant opening in China. He and Billie treasured the wonderful experiences they had through their years of travel.
Guy found great delight in helping others. He was always there to lend helping hand to his neighbors and friends when they needed help with chores or repair work. He was a dedicated member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Glade, TN and played an active role in the renovation of the church and new sanctuary. Guy loved to cook and took pleasure in making his famous seafood gumbo for all to enjoy. Guy is remembered fondly by those who knew him for his generosity of spirit and wonderful sense of humor. He loved fishing, playing golf, bridge and bocce.
Guy is survived by his two sons - Donald J. LaBorde of South Carolina and Richard P. LaBorde of California, and a daughter- Beverly L. Lavoie of Washington DC and his brother James LaBorde of Ohio. He also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Guy is preceded in death by his grandson, Mark LaBorde.
Arrangements were provided by Palmetto Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Fort Mill, SC at 2:00 PM on April 21, 2018. The family wishes to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Assisted Living and Rehabilitation Center in Fairfield Glade and Wellmore of Tega Cay in Tega Cay, South Carolina for providing loving care for Guy during his final years. Memorial donations may be sent in his name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Glade TN, Wellmore of Tega Cay and the Alzheimer's Association.
